Our client, an establiished, innovative food business based in Co. Kildare, have an immediate requirement for an NPD Technologist. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a very experienced team, in a company which offers great learning and development opportunities. The NPD Technologist will be responsible for launching approved products and actively contributing to the development team.

Location: Kildare, Dublin, Wicklow 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the launch of new product concepts through the approved Stage Gate Process ensuring each stage is documented & signed off according to procedure
  • To organise product and sample submissions to customers and participate in presentations externally & internally to stakeholders & customers
  • Arrange trials & pre-production trials on new products through the pilot plant and the manufacturing unit
  • Ensure completion and recording of customer trackers, product costings, sensory analysis trials, competitor benchmarking and shelf life analysis trials
  • Ensure completion of cooking instruction validation and calculation of nutrition profiles of products
  • Complete 1st production/launch sign off with the relevant teams and with the customer
  • Complete post-launch reviews and issue reports to the business teams
  • Work with production & QA in relation to customer codes of practice, process improvements/yields/ improving process efficiencies and cost reduction projects
  • Sign off finished product specifications in conjunction with QA for all new lines
  • Design QAS documents and approve all defect standards with the teams
  • As with all positions, key responsibilities will evolve and change over time

Skills & experience:

  • 3rd Level Degree in Food Science/Culinary Science or related discipline
  • 2-3 years NPD experience
  • A natural and influential communicator who has the ability to develop strong cross functional working relationships
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
  • A degree of flexibility is required for travel & factory trials outside of 9 – 5.30pm working hours
