Co-Packer Quality Lead– Global drinks business - Dublin West

The primary role of the Co-Packer Quality Lead is to ensure quality integrity in the production and warehousing of product on the co-packer sites.

Working primarily with the co-packers accountability to deliver world class quality performance, conduct specialised quality analysis, investigate customer complaints, resolve quality problems, and mentor production staff in the area of quality.

Ensuring all Co-Packers are fully compliant with Quality, Safety and Environmental (QSE) procedures in all aspects of the business.

To audit Co-Packer sites based on their ISO/BRC accreditation along with other relevant standards.

Point of contact for Co Packers for Product Quality Control & process improvements.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance and comply with all safety, health, environment, and quality legislation, procedures and standards in the workplace.
  • Ensuring adherence to all food safety, legal, customer and quality requirements for day to day production.
  • Annual auditing of sites based on their ISO/BRC accreditation.
  • Carrying out weekly audits for investigation of Non- conformances.
  • Checking and verifying that team members are monitoring process performance, carrying out required quality checks and recording the information on the appropriate systems.
  • Be aware of loss and waste within the area and at all times work to reduce and eliminate waste and identify opportunities to improve business processes.
  • Monitor quality performance, identify trends and ensure process improvement goals are incorporated into team goals, and the team understands these goals.
  • React immediately to issues as they are exposed.
  • Participate in and lead as required improvement projects.
  • To integrate and stream line Quality reporting systems and KPI’s.
  • Reviews results of analysis daily to identify problems.
  • Ensure that technical processing standards are understood and are being met.
  • Provides oversight for the execution of the quality program including HACCP, internal quality audits, and hygiene programs.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the QMS through internal audits, implementing any corrective actions with the relevant managers.
  • Ensures relevant quality procedures are updated where necessary.
  • Work closely with all relevant departments, manager & suppliers.
  • Maintenance and update of quality Manuals, quality documentation, work instructions etc.
  • Support Packaging Innovation, Technology teams with evaluating new packaging materials and with on line trials.
  • Support Innovation team with auditing of production sites, setting & approval of quality procedures.

Key Skills and Experience required:

  • BSc in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science or other related degree.
  • Certified Auditor or Institute of Brewing Packaging Certificate desirable.
  • Previous experience of Soft Drinks and spirits an advantage.
  • Product and dry goods knowledge beneficial.
  • Excellent knowledge of Quality, Health & Safety, Environmental & Food Safety standards.
  • Previous management experience a quality leadership role (e.g. Laboratory Manager)
  • Previous experience working in an FMCG manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to lead a team and manage performance.
  • Basic financial awareness, understanding of business drivers, budgeting processes.
  • Excellent process improvement and problem solving skills.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing excellence techniques.
  • Computer literate.
  • Strong numerical and verbal reasoning.
  • Full, clean driving license is essential.
  • Flexible working hours & availability to travel nationally & internationally on occasions may be required.
  • A developed continuous Improvement mindset.
  • Ability to positively impact and influence with or without direct line authority.
  • Proactive, structured and logical problem solving skills.
