I have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Accountant to join Europe’s fastest-growing food business. Following significant investment in its world-class facility in the Midlands, my client is expanding their Finance team in line with their continued growth.

The Management Accountant will play a key role in shaping the growth of the company over the coming years. The role will encompass preparing detailed analyses of both problems and opportunities, while partnering closely with the Factory Management Team to ensure key performance measures are achieved.

The ideal candidate will be thorough, accurate and ambitious. They will work closely with the Operations Finance Manager in a hands-on role within a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Role & responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation of management accounts in a timely & accurate manner
  • Monthly cost centre management, control and reporting with commentary on variances
  • Weekly analysis of labour costs, efficiencies, energy usage and engineering spend
  • Analyse conversion gains/losses against standard product costs and operations to understand key drivers
  • Prepare New Product Costings in line with company policy
  • Audit stock management processes and ensure a high level of accuracy on both quantity and value
  • Identify opportunities for cost improvement and effectiveness
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of policies, procedures and systems
  • Represent Finance on project teams

Skills, qualification and experience required:

  • Professional qualification in BSc/BA in Accounting or similar
  • 2+ years of proven relevant business experience in a manufacturing company
  • High level attention to detail, analytical, problem solver
  • Highly motivated and eager to learn
  • Good understanding of cost allocation, product costing and reporting
  • Experience with fully integrated ERP systems, preferably SAP
  • Excellent communicator and presentation skills
  • Maintain a high level of integrity
  • Team player, building and maintaining strong relationships with colleagues in Finance and across business functions on multiple hierarchical levels
